Proton acceleration with intense twisted laser light

نویسندگان

چکیده

An efficient approach that considers a high-intensity twisted laser of moderate energy (few J) is proposed to generate collimated proton bunches with multi-10 MeV energies from double-layer hydrogen target. Three-dimensional particle-in-cell simulations demonstrate the formation highly and energetic ($\ensuremath{\sim}40$ MeV) bunch, whose divergence $\ensuremath{\sim}6.5$ times smaller compared bunch driven by Gaussian containing same energy. Supported theoretical modeling relativistic self-focusing in near-critical plasma, we establish regime allows for consistent acceleration high-energetic low under experimentally feasible conditions drivers.

Brunel-dominated proton acceleration with a few-cycle laser pulse.

Experimental measurements of backward accelerated protons are presented. The beam is produced when an ultrashort (5 fs) laser pulse, delivered by a kHz laser system, with a high temporal contrast (10(8)), interacts with a thick solid target. Under these conditions, proton cutoff energy dependence with laser parameters, such as pulse energy, polarization (from p to s), and pulse duration (from 5...

Zeeman effect induced by intense laser light.

We analyze spectral line shapes of hydrogenlike species subjected to fields of electromagnetic waves. It is shown that the magnetic component of an electromagnetic wave may significantly influence the spectra. In particular, the Zeeman effect induced by a visible or infrared light can be experimentally observed using present-day powerful lasers. In addition, the effect may be used for diagnosti...

Proton Beam Acceleration with Circular Polarized Laser Pulses*

Recently, radiation pressure acceleration (RPA) has been proposed and extensively studied, which shows circularly polarized (CP) laser pulses can accelerate mono-energetic ion bunches in a phase-stableacceleration (PSA) way from ultrathin foils. For appropriate parameters, CP pulses may accelerate foils as a whole with most of the transferred energy carried by ions. It is found that self-organi...
